February 1, 2010--(New York, NY)—In association with the US Army MWR, DominoesStars.com and Jim Beam Global Spirits & Wines, R.Paniagua, Inc. announces the first-ever U.S. Army Domino Championship, February through April, 2010 at 30 Army bases.
The tournament will take place simultaneously on 30 Army installations throughout the United States, Hawaii and Alaska throughout the months of February through April of 2010. The winning team will be awarded an all-expense paid trip to play at the 8th Annual World Domino Championships at the Las Vegas Hilton, Memorial Day Weekend (May 26-29, 2010), and a chance to win part of the $40,000 in cash prize purses.
The US Army MWR Championship tournament is sponsored by Sauza Hornitos Tequila, part of Beam Global Spirits & Wines and DominoesStars.com, the first and only site dedicated to the sport of Dominoes.
Class 6 stores at participating bases will implement a special promotion with the opportunity for military shoppers to receive free Domino sets. Army personnel will also receive special promotional gift items including caps and t-shirts.
DominoesStars.com will also put on interactive “learn to play” tutorial sessions for all who want to enter the tournament or simply learn how to enjoy the skillful and friendly sport of Dominoes.
R.Paniagua, Inc. (RPI) will work jointly with DominoUSA, the governing U.S. Domino federation, to establish the tournament rules and guidelines, and ensuring the fairness and integrity of the tournament. “ As president of the USA Domino Federation I am very excited that this event will spread the word about dominoes to thousands of players. As a retired Army man,
this will be very exciting for our enlisted men and women to enjoy some down time playing dominoes,” said Manuel Oquendo, President of Domino USA, the US Federation.
“This program is the biggest event ever in the history of Dominoes. Thanks to our
friends at MWR, thousands of young men and women will be exposed to the sport,”
said Ralph Paniagua, President of R.Paniagua, Inc. “And with the championship at the Las Vegas Hilton over the Memorial Day weekend, this will mark a significant milestone for the sport of Dominoes”.
